Last report of 2015: The Christmas Rapex

11 Jan, 2016 | News

Informes Rapex Agosto

In the last Rapex of 2015, on 25 December, 78 products were recalled, one of the highest numbers we have seen during the year. In Spain, however, there were only two bans, both toys.

Regarding the cosmetics sector, the Czech Republic has recalled 4 products: two sets of false nails, a set of children's make-up and a conditioner. In the case of the nails, they were manufactured in China by Dudustrong, and their glue contained dibutyl phthalate (DBP), an ingredient banned by the Regulation because it can cause reproductive problems. The clown make-up set for children contained di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) among its ingredients and therefore did not comply with the REACH Regulation. Finally, the hair cosmetic product, manufactured by Berrywell in Germany, contained isobutylparaben and therefore did not comply with the Regulation.

We would also like to inform that in Bulgaria, aromatic pearls and two sets of decorative fruits have been withdrawn because of their colour and size they could be mistaken for food. In both cases, for non-compliance with Directive 87/357/EEC.
