The cluster manager of the HealthTech Cluster, Manel Pretel, and the director of the Technical Pharmaceutical Office, Mercè Camps, met yesterday. It was within the framework of the 1st edition of the HEALTHIOthe Patients, Innovation and Health Systems meeting. This health congress, directed by Dr. Jordi Serrano and organised by the Fira de Barcelona, will be held from 3 to 5 May at the Fira's Montjuïc exhibition centre. And to showcase the latest innovations in health and health technology.
The HEALTHIO congress: 1st edition of the meeting of Patients, Innovation and Health Systems.
HEALTHIO has shared space with the congress Health 2.0, organised by BIOCAT, which was in its 8th edition. Throughout the three days, a large number of conferences were organised by representatives of the public health sector - members of the Hospital Clínic, Vall d'Hebron, Sant Joan de Déu and Germans Trias i Pujol -, medical associations and institutions - such as the COMB and the WHO itself -, private health technology companies and patient organisations. The congress also included an exhibition hall, the itinerary of which was divided into four sectors: Welfare, Personalised medicine, Chronic Diseases y Ageing.
HealthTech Cluster and GTF join forces
HealthTech Cluster is a grouping of companies in the health technology sector. Like the Beauty Cluster Barcelona, The initiative, which is being promoted by ACCIÓ, the Catalan agency for business competitiveness. Its board of directors includes representatives of companies as well as people from the hospital, research and public sectors. It was created at a time of paradigm shift in medicine. The patient has an active role in the promotion of their health. Its mission is to develop technological solutions to comply with the 4Ps paradigm, which in medicine are: predictive, preventive, personalised and participative.
There had already been several previous contacts between the cluster and our cabinet. However, we had not formalised our membership. The reason: many of the functions of the HealthTech Cluster coincide with those of CataloniaBio, the cluster of bio companies. But this is about to change: yesterday at HEALTHIO, a general assembly of the HealthTech Cluster. And it spoke about the prospect that HT Cluster merge with CataloniaBio, probably by the end of the year.
GTF, new member of the HealthTech Cluster
In anticipation of this integration, the director of GTF, Mercè Camps, has taken the opportunity to formalise its entry as a partner in the HT Cluster. In this way, GTF joins the cluster of health technology companies in Catalonia. And it becomes one of its reference partners in the field of cosmetics and medical devices regulation.
