The BCB Advisory Council: a group of experts at the service of beauty

On 19 December 2018, the BCB Advisory Council. A group of cluster members set up a consultative body, composed of “professionals with a long history, reputable experience and extensive knowledge of the beauty sector” at the service of the Beauty Cluster Barcelona.

The main task of the Council will be to advise the Board of Directors of the BCB. In short, will act as a think tank of the beauty and self-care sector, at the service of Beauty Cluster Barcelona. The Council is also expected to take part in the international activities and congresses in which the cluster participates annually. .

The objectives of the BCB Advisory Council: a statement of principles

The objectives of the Advisory Board and information on its components are visible in the Beauty Cluster Barcelona website. They were also published in its January 2019 newsletter. As decided at the first Council meeting, These will be its main areas of action:

  • To provide ideas, initiatives and project opportunities to make the sector more competitive, to promote innovation or to cover strategic needs of the sector in the medium/long term.
  • Assist the BCB Board, working groups and staff in evaluating and making decisions regarding activities, projects, studies, innovation ideas, opinion pieces and other related actions.
  • Participate, on behalf of the BCB, in round tables, conferences, congresses and other activities where you can share your knowledge.
  • Contribute with its knowledge to establish a 10-15 year roadmap for the Beauty sector that will serve as a vision for the companies that make up the cluster.

The composition of the Advisory Board of the BCB

The newly established BCB Advisory Board, which held its first meeting on 19 December, consists of members of the cluster. All of them are highly reputable specialists in the beauty and cosmetics sector:


  • The chemical engineer Francesc Balaguer
  • The chemist and business consultant Joaquín Álvarez López
  • The perfumer Rosendo Mateu
  • Chemist and marketing specialist Ramón Mira.
  • The biologist Gabriel Buendía Bordera
  • Pharmacist and member of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy Mercè Camps.

From GTF, we value very positively the creation of this group of experts. We believe that it will offer Beauty Cluster Barcelona greater technical knowledge of the sector. And of course, we are grateful that the Board of Directors of Beauty Cluster Barcelona has thought of the director of the Pharmaceutical Technical Officeo, Mercè Camps, to form part of its Advisory Council.
