Rapex Report 9 August 2019

In the second week of August, 53 products were recalled from the eurozone via the Rapex system. Of these, none were recalled at the request of the Spanish authorities. Rapex Report 16 August 2019

Rapex Report, August 2019 –  Friday 16th was the busiest day for the cosmetics sector throughout the month of August. Of the 47 products recalled by the Rapex system – all of which were outside our borders – a total of 6 fell into the cosmetics category.

Five of these were seized at the request of the Lithuanian authorities; all of them were body gels and creams containing the following preservatives MCI y MI. In addition, a skin-lightening cream was withdrawn from the market; its ingredients included kojic acid

Rapex Report 23 August 2019

On Friday 23 August, only 17 product recalls were reported across the eurozone, a very low figure, perhaps attributable to the holiday period during which the report was compiled. However, one of them was a cosmetic product: a body gel manufactured by Horse Health in Russia, which contained the MI and MCI preservatives, which are not permitted in the EU for leave-on cosmetics.

Rapex Report 30 August 2019

In the latest Rapex report for August, national authorities across the EU withdrew 26 products from the market, none of which were withdrawn at Spain’s request.

In the cosmetics sector, the Czech authorities have withdrawn two products from eyelash growth serum for the same reason: to contain biimataprost, an ingredient that must be used under the supervision of an ophthalmologist and therefore does not comply with Regulation 1223/2009 on cosmetic products.
