Last Friday, the Rapex Report of 27 January 2017 – the European Commission’s product alert – led to the withdrawal of 30 items from the European market. The sectors most affected by the bans were motor vehicles and toys.

The Spanish authorities, for their part, did not report any product recalls, which we believe is good news. All the more so given that, generally speaking, Spain is one of the most active countries when it comes to Rapex alerts.

Rapex Report 27 January 2017: very good news for the cosmetics sector

As regards the cosmetics sector, the Rapex Report of 27 January 2017 has not reported any products either, which is good news for the sector. In the Toys category, Rapex has recalled a paint because it was contaminated with mesophilic aerobic bacteria. However, as this paint was intended for use with a brush and water, and not explicitly for use on the fingers, at GTF we treat it as a toy rather than a cosmetic, as we do on other occasions.
